Nelson Photo Supplies was founded in 1950 by Al Nelson. The family owned and operated company began as a photographic supplier to industrial users in San Diego. In the mid 1950's the company expanded into the retail photographic business and relocated to its current location in San Diego's downtown Little Italy district.

In October 2001 Nelson Photo Supplies was purchased by their long time manager and husband. As a new family owned and operated company, Nelson Photo Supplies continues the 50 year plus committment to their customers, community, and the photography industry.
